This coffee’s story begins with the dedication of over 1,000 families working together at Beneficio Palmichal, located just south of San José. Here, the Caturra and Catuai varieties are grown between 1,200 and 2,000 metres above sea level, in an idyllic setting between the Pacific coast and the Talamanca mountains – a microclimate blessed with sunshine and gentle breezes.
Originally founded by Manuel and Romelia Rojas, pioneers of coffee growing in Tarrazú, the Beneficio Palmichal estate was later taken over by the renowned coffee producer Roberto Montero Castro. In 1994, the Neumann Kaffee Gruppe continued this proud legacy by acquiring Don Roberto’s farm and mill, ensuring the tradition of exceptional quality lives on in every cup.
