The Story of Cafés Lugat:

Lionel Lugat is the legendary coffee roaster at MaxiCoffee . Over the years, he has surrounded himself with an expert team of coffee roasters.

This coffee specialist is also a judge in the French Coffee Championships and expert columnist for our coffee company! Lionel tells the story of Cafés Lugat and his passion for coffee roasting below.


About this Coffee:

 
This coffee comes from the Klasik Beans cooperative located on the island of Java. The name of this microlot is "Serigaluh Mutiara dari Tanah Sunda". "Serigaluh" is a variety of old typica discovered on Mount Guntur Garut in 2009 and seeds have been harvested. Eko, founder of Klasik Beans, thinks that this variety comes from the Sunda region. He therefore decided to replant this variety so that it does not disappear, he created nurseries and a planting model. "Mutiara dari Tanah sunda" means jewel of the Sunda region. This coffee is processed by Klasik Beans, honey or semi-washed. This microlot is semi-washed processed.
All our Java coffees come from the island’s best and oldest terroir, situated in the Sundanese region to the west. The Sundanese are Indonesia’s second largest ethnic group. Klasik Beans is very well established in Java and has over 1,000 members, who can take their coffees to the cooperative’s five wet mills (Pacet, Puntang, Garut, Ciwidey and Cimenyan).

Because it has a large coffee processing capacity, Klasik Beans is able to fully control the production of its lots, from receiving the cherries through to processing. They master all types of processes, including semi-washed, fully-washed, natural, honey and wet-hulled.
