This Timemore Chestnut C3S Pro manual coffee grinder is comfortable to use and easy to carry. Its construction feels sturdier than that of the C2.
However, if you plan to use the Chestnut C3S Pro for espresso with non-pressurised filter baskets, you may find its grind settings somewhat limited. You will need to compensate by adjusting the dose of ground coffee in the basket and your tamping technique.
If you use pressurised filter baskets, this grinder will be more than adequate. For espresso grinding with non-pressurised baskets, we recommend the Timemore Chestnut X, which offers more precise grind adjustments.

A Compact yet Efficient Manual Grinder
Following the success of the Chestnut C2 model, Timemore is back with the Chestnut C3S Pro.
With its aluminum alloy body, the C3S Pro is a lightweight manual coffee grinder, ideal for daily use, travel, or camping. Durability is also ensured by the retractable stainless steel handle, robust internal mechanism, and conical steel burrs.
Patented S2C (Spike to Cut) Burrs
Timemore has equipped the C3S Pro with the same burrs as the Chestnut X. The same quality in a smaller diameter.
These 38mm conical stainless steel burrs (SUS 440 type) with the patented S2C (Spike to Cut) design are designed to cut coffee beans into large particles before fully grinding them. According to Timemore, these burrs allow you to grind your coffee while ensuring that the silver skin of the coffee beans doesn't end up in the grind, reducing bitterness and providing greater clarity in the cup.
Settings and Other Features of the Chestnut C3S Pro
The grind setting is adjusted in increments, using a steel dial located beneath the grinder.
The main wheel offers a choice of 20 settings:
- 7 to 8 clicks for espresso
- 13 to 16 clicks for filter and gentle methods
- 17 to 20 clicks for a French press
This compact manual grinder provides a better grip with its 52 mm diameter and matte surface to prevent slipping.
The grind container is made of aluminium. It can hold up to 25 g of ground coffee.
The internal system with 2 ball bearings is supported by a sturdy aluminium frame to ensure stability during grinding.
The Timemore C3S Pro manual coffee grinder is delivered in a box with a carrying bag and a cleaning brush to maintain the burrs.

The type of roast will affect the balance of flavours (bitterness, acidity, sweetness, etc.) and reveal the aromas of the terroir to a greater or lesser extent.
The more the coffee is roasted the more its colour will change (from light to dark). The darker the roast, the more the aromatic notes are lost in favour of the roasting notes.
All our coffees have been placed in a colorimeter by our experts in order to compare the roast intensity.
The aromatic groups describe the tasting notes of your cup (hazelnut, chocolate, peach, white flowers, etc.).
If you don't know what your coffee profile is yet, we advise you to start with the most appreciated aromatic groups: rich & sweet or woody.
Please Note: this is not a flavoured coffee but aromatic notes noticed upon tasting.
The dominant aromatic group represents the most perceptible notes and the secondary group, the more subtle notes present in the cup.
Traditional Coffees (classic and superior) are the most common in the various distribution channels.
Specialty Coffees (rated 80-100) are among the best coffees in the world and represent less than 10% of world production. These are flawless coffees that offer unique tasting notes from one terroir (or even plot) to another.
Attributed by “Q Graders”, a coffee's /100 score is determined by the quality of the beans and the result in the cup. It is advisable to progressively move towards coffees with higher scores.
