The flavour profile of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee beans
Grown in the Ethiopian highlands, Lugat's Yirgacheffe coffee beans are produced from traditional Heirloom varieties and carefully processed using the washed method. This combination of an exceptional terroir and meticulous craftsmanship creates a specialty coffee with remarkable elegance, vibrant fruitiness and natural sweetness.
Awarded a score of 84/100, this specialty coffee stands out for its expressive flavour profile, where juicy yellow fruit notes meet a smooth, sweet character. The cup opens with flavours of candied orange and grapefruit before revealing a silky body enriched by subtle hints of milk chocolate.
Its bright acidity brings freshness and vibrancy, while the finish lingers with delicate notes of white flowers. Balanced and refined, this coffee is equally suited to espresso and filter brewing. Every cup reflects the unique qualities of the Yirgacheffe terroir, the richness of Heirloom coffee varieties and the precision of the traditional washed process, which enhances the bean's clarity and aromatic complexity.
Yirgacheffe Gedeb: an exceptional terroir brought to life by SNAP
This single-origin coffee comes from the Gedeb district in the heart of Ethiopia's renowned Yirgacheffe region, an area celebrated for producing some of the country's finest coffees. Grown at an altitude of 2,150 metres, the coffee benefits from a lush agroforestry environment where the cherries ripen slowly, allowing them to develop exceptional aromatic complexity.
Produced from traditional Heirloom varieties, native to the birthplace of Arabica coffee, this specialty coffee reflects the remarkable genetic diversity that makes Ethiopian coffees so distinctive. In Gedeb, the exporter SNAP works alongside around 1,000 local coffee growers, providing support throughout harvesting and processing. This close partnership helps maintain outstanding bean quality while promoting the expertise and craftsmanship of the farming communities.

A traditional washed process that brings out the coffee's finest qualities
Only fully ripe coffee cherries are hand-picked before being carefully sorted to retain only the highest-quality fruit. They are pulped on the day of harvest, then undergo approximately 36 hours of fermentation. A thorough washing stage follows, removing all remaining mucilage and ensuring exceptional cup clarity.
The beans, still protected by their parchment layer, are naturally dried on raised African beds for 12 to 15 days. During this time, they are regularly turned and carefully sheltered from intense sunlight and overnight humidity to promote slow, even drying. Once the ideal moisture level is reached, the beans are hulled, packed and prepared for export.
