The Nespresso* Original decaf pods have less than 0.05% caffeine (half the legal requirement for decaffeinated coffee). Less caffeine, but still with a balanced intensity and a gourmet taste. illy's blend is made of 100% Arabica coffees, selected and roasted with care.

Which Decaffeination Method is Used by ILLY?

Illy uses a solvent (dichlorometane) to decaffeinate its products before roasting. This highly volatile product is quickly eliminated. The fact that it is used before roasting means that there is no trace of this solvent in Illy decaffeinated coffees.

Naturally with a very low caffeine content (1.5%), Illy decaffeinated coffees contain the lowest caffeine content on the market (0.05%). Did you know that? The legal standard for decaffeinated coffee is 0.1%.
