An Organic Specialty Coffee From Tolima With Indulgent Notes

La Esperanza Organic coffee beans are a Colombian specialty coffee grown using organic farming methods, expertly roasted to reveal the full richness of their terroir. Expect a beautifully balanced cup, opening with fresh blackcurrant notes that bring a lively, fruity acidity. The body is smooth and well-rounded with delicious chocolate notes, while the finish is soft and lingering, enhanced by hints of caramel.

Thanks to its outstanding balance and remarkable smoothness, this coffee is equally enjoyable as an espresso or brewed with an automatic coffee bean machine.

Why not also explore our selection of coffee beans and discover the wonderful diversity of specialty coffees.

An Exceptional Origin In The Heart Of Tolima

The coffees in this lot come from Finca La Roma, located in the municipality of Planadas, in the southern part of the Tolima department. This mountainous region of Colombia, once affected by armed conflict, is now recognised as one of the country's most promising areas for Colombian specialty coffee.

Combined with the ideal altitude and favourable climate, Tolima's unique terroir produces coffees with a beautifully clean, expressive cup and a naturally sweet profile.

The Black Condor Project: Coffee With a Purpose

This coffee is part of the Black Condor Project, launched in 2019 by Emmanuel, a third-generation coffee producer, in partnership with the Colombian exporter Forest Coffee. Today, the project supports more than fifteen coffee-growing villages around Gaitania, helping to sustainably improve both harvest quality and the livelihoods of coffee-farming families.

Producers receive regular training in fermentation, drying, cupping and best production practices. Thanks to this initiative, they can earn up to 30% above conventional market prices, making the Black Condor Project a genuine driver of economic and social development across the Tolima region.

Complementary Varieties and a Carefully Managed Washed Process

La Esperanza Organic combines the Caturra and Castillo varieties. Caturra brings aromatic elegance, sweetness and a pleasant brightness, while Castillo contributes greater body, excellent consistency and natural resistance to coffee leaf rust.

Following a fully hand-picked harvest, only perfectly ripe cherries are selected. The beans are then depulped and left with their mucilage for around 24 hours, allowing sweetness and aromatic complexity to develop. After washing, the coffee is slowly dried on patios for 15 to 25 days. This carefully executed washed process creates an exceptionally clean, balanced and indulgent cup, where notes of caramel, panela and red berries shine through beautifully.
