The Story of Cafés Lugat:
Lionel Lugat is the legendary coffee roaster at MaxiCoffee . Over the years, he has surrounded himself with an expert team of coffee roasters.
This coffee specialist is also a judge in the French Coffee Championships and expert columnist for our coffee company! Lionel tells the story of Cafés Lugat and his passion for coffee roasting below.
Presentation of this Geisha Coffee:
This Geisha MicroLot is produced by Mr. Gonzalo Batista, nicknamed 'Don Chalo', who produced coffee in Panama.
This exceptional coffee is available in very limited quantities (only 100 packs) and are exclusively available from Maxicoffee.
Mr. Gonzalo Batista's farm is located in the Jurutungo department, in Renacimiento.
For thestory, Don Chalo bought this farm about 45 years ago and initially wanted to produce livestock there since the area was not known for its coffee production (ironically, his coffees are pure gems!).
To Don Chalo's surprise, however, coffee trees flourished on his farm and even produced coffee cherries. So he decided to devote a small part of his farm to coffee production.
How did this coffee arrive at Cafés Lugat?
Lionel and Marco, roasters at Cafés Lugat, left for Panama in order to source the best coffees in the country.
Their quest led them to the lands of Baru Black Moutain. There, they met Don Chalo via his nephew, Ezequiel, with whom the two Cafés Lugat's globetrotters were traveling.
Lionel and Marco fell in love with the exceptional quality of Don Chalo's coffees and currently offer twoexceptional coffees from his farm: this Geisha microlot and a Caturra microlot.
Cafés Lugat boasts a team of enthusiastic young coffee roasters who select exceptional coffees and create irresistible recipes just for you. Through their range of coffee beans, ground coffees and Nespresso® compatible capsules, their mission is to bring you the unique flavour and aromas from the world's best coffee-producing areas!
Their passion for coffee has even won them awards. Marco, the brand's head roaster, was awarded the French Barista Championship title at the 2017 French Championships.
