• Origin and history of this coffee

Cafés Lugat selected this coffee in the heart of Ethiopia's famous Sidama region. There, they have built up a relationship of trust with Tsegab Ayele, the producer of the varieties of coffee that make up this specialty coffee. These coffees, grown at an altitude of 2350 m, produce cherries that are perfectly ripe thanks to ideal conditions.

• Why is this coffee a Grand Cru coffee?

This coffee has unique characteristics that give it an exceptional, incomparable flavour.

Ethiopia is home to a multitude of coffee and arabica varieties. Bochessa Maleko is made from some of these precious varieties, such as 17158 and 7165.

After being harvested, these coffee beans are processed using the traditional, ancestral Ethiopian method known as "washed". This method develops a pleasant acidity when tasted and gives an exceptionally clean cup result.

This coffee is a Grand Cru because it has passed through the Tsegab washing station, inaugurated in 2020 afterthe village of Rumudamo won the Ethiopian Cup of Excellence. Tsegab, renowned for the exceptional quality of its coffees, continues to win numerous competitions.

This specialty coffee is above all a delicate, fruity and floral coffee beans, scoring 87/100.
