Sir Thomas Lipton came from Glasgow and revolutionised the future of tea. In 1890, he bought 2250 hectares of plantation in Dambatenne in the Ceylon heights , and then reorganised it to increase production.
He then founded a tea packaging company and was the first to print tea bags indicating the tea infusions, to make tea accessible to everyone , not just for the elite.
