Choosing a Knock Box or coffee grounds drawer

A knock box is simply a box used to dispose of the used coffee grounds in your filter holder, after the extraction of an espresso. It is an essential accessory if you have a manual espresso machine. The knock box also comes in the form of a drawer, which is positioned below the coffee grinder. The knock box is usually made of plastic or stainless steel, with a solid bar to hit your filter holder to release the cake.

Why you need a knock box

A knock box or coffee drawer is a grounds tray that prevents you from spilling espresso everywhere when you carry your filter holder to the sink or bin. You also don't risk damaging your bin if you knock the filter holder on it. A knock box is a simple and functional accessory that can make your life easier.

Buying a knockbox

Knock boxes and coffee drawers are very similar in design and function. Probably the most important things to consider are size and strength.

Size: think about how often you will use your knock box. How many coffees do you make a day? If the number is high, you will need a larger box, so you don't have to empty it often during the day. Also think about the space you have on your worktop. If you have limited space, choose a more compact model or a drawer that can fit under your coffee grinder.

Sturdiness: For intensive use, choose a knock box or a coffee drawer that will last and resist knocks without damaging the bar or the filter holder.

At MaxiCoffee, you will find a complete range of quality coffee bins (knock boxes and drawers) for domestic and professional use.
