This manual espresso maker is equipped with a 49mm portafilter, a classic basket size making a strong comeback among speciality coffee enthusiasts.

This deeper basket design offers a more forgiving grind size, helping reduce channeling while encouraging extraction consistency and a rich, syrupy mouthfeel.

The Flair Espresso 49 PRO is an manual lever espresso machine: you control every stage of the brewing process yourself for a precise, personalised result in the cup.

The lever system allows you to build pressure gradually and with control, extracting espresso with generous flavour, body and texture.

Its pump-free workflow lets you manage manually: pre-infusion, pressure buildup, flow rate, extraction time and cup ratio.

The integrated pressure gauge gives real-time feedback on the pressure applied during brewing, helping you adjust your technique and stay within the ideal 6 to 9 BAR range.

The brew cylinder has been designed to promote heat retention and consistent extraction. For the best results, preheating the components before use is recommended.

This hands-on approach creates a uniquely tactile and sensory brewing experience: every shot can be tailored to the coffee used, the roast profile or the result you want in the cup.

Please note: like all manual Flair espresso makers, the Flair 49 PRO does not heat water. A separate kettle with hot water is required to fill the brew cylinder. It has a 90 ml input water capacity.

Tips for the Flair 49 PRO

Unlike some previous generations of Flair machines, the 49 PRO features a fixed cylinder system with a stainless steel valve plunger, allowing you to pull multiple espresso shots without fully disassembling the brew cylinder between extractions.

Any fault caused by improper use will not be covered by the warranty. 

At a minimum, Flair Espresso recommends the following equipment to get the very best from your Flair 49 PRO espresso machine:

- An espresso-capable grinder to achieve a precise, consistent grind and make dialling in easier.

- A temperature-controlled kettle to adapt water temperature to your coffee’s roast profile.

- A precision scale: for repeatable results, both input and output should be measured. This includes the dose of coffee in the basket, as well as extraction time and yield in the cup.

As with any manual lever espresso maker, the quality of the final result depends directly on grind consistency, pressure control and extraction mastery.
