Producing Ethiopian Coffee
These coffee beans are washed at the Konga washing station in the Yirgacheffe district, and are owned by Takele Mammo.
Takele ran Ethiopia's third largest coffee cooperative as a former Managing Director of the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (YCFCU) for 12 years. He works with local growers who supply cherries to several washing stations, enabling him to offer a wide range of coffees to roasters around the world. Takele also has an office and a dry grinder in Addis Ababa.
The Konga washing station is located at an altitude of 1,900 metres, right in the heart of Yirgacheffe, one of the eight woredas in the Gedeo highlands. Located just a few kilometres south of the town of Yirgacheffe, this region is surrounded by protected primary forests, offering an ecosystem rich in biodiversity. Yirgacheffe is world-renowned for producing coffees of exceptional quality, thanks to its unique terroir and traditional farming methods.
