Max Gort-Barten is a German entrepreneur who was living in England when the Second World War broke out. At the end of the war, he created a small factory in Camberwell, convinced he could use his engineering skills and creativity to manufacture products. He launched several concepts, including the Dual-Light electric heater (the origin of the company name Dualit), but it was a patented toaster that attracted the most attention.
