Single-origin excellence cultivated by Grupo Sierra
Las Planadas coffee is cultivated high in the Sierra Nevada mountains of Magdalena province, South America, by dedicated farmers committed to sustainable organic practices. Situated at 1,700 metres, the plantations enjoy a unique microclimate with sandy soils and a steady average temperature of 27°C year-round. Hand-picked between November and January, only the ripest cherries are selected and carefully processed through a strict washed method. Following a controlled fermentation lasting 13 to 15 hours, the Castillo and Colombia variety beans are sun-dried on African beds for 15 to 20 days. This attentive approach preserves the coffee’s full aromatic depth and exceptional quality. The type of roast will affect the balance of flavours (bitterness, acidity, sweetness, etc.) and reveal the aromas of the terroir to a greater or lesser extent.
The more the coffee is roasted the more its colour will change (from light to dark). The darker the roast, the more the aromatic notes are lost in favour of the roasting notes.
All our coffees have been placed in a colorimeter by our experts in order to compare the roast intensity.
The aromatic groups describe the tasting notes of your cup (hazelnut, chocolate, peach, white flowers, etc.).
If you don't know what your coffee profile is yet, we advise you to start with the most appreciated aromatic groups: rich & sweet or woody.
