Known as a "Cafetiere" or "French Press," this coffee maker is celebrated worldwide for its unique brewing method that involves pressing the coffee grounds. Its name reflects the traditional technique and the distinguished French heritage associated with this style of coffee preparation.
Effortless brewing with a user-friendly design
Bodum cafetières are incredibly straightforward to operate. Simply add ground coffee to the cafetière, pour in the precise amount of hot (not boiling) water, allow it to steep for 4 to 5 minutes, then gently and steadily press the plunger down. After that, all that's left is to serve your coffee into a mug or insulated glass and savour every sip!
The design of the copper Chambord cafetiere by Bodum
Bodum's founder, Jørgen Bodum, began work on his version of the French Press in the 1970s. The acquisition of Melior-Martin in 1991 led to the creation of this model. Today, the Chambord is known the world over as the iconic model from Bodum. Both classic and avant-garde, this coffee maker sits proudly in every kitchen in France and the rest of the world.
Bodum is a family business, founded in Copenhagen by Peter Bodum in 1944. The founder's concept: to develop functional and quality products at an affordable price. Bodum products are sold in 55 countries around the world.
Since 1974, Bodum has produced more than 100 million French Press coffee makers and 30 million teapots.
The type of roast will affect the balance of flavours (bitterness, acidity, sweetness, etc.) and reveal the aromas of the terroir to a greater or lesser extent.
The more the coffee is roasted the more its colour will change (from light to dark). The darker the roast, the more the aromatic notes are lost in favour of the roasting notes.
All our coffees have been placed in a colorimeter by our experts in order to compare the roast intensity.
The aromatic groups describe the tasting notes of your cup (hazelnut, chocolate, peach, white flowers, etc.).
If you don't know what your coffee profile is yet, we advise you to start with the most appreciated aromatic groups: rich & sweet or woody.
Please Note: this is not a flavoured coffee but aromatic notes noticed upon tasting.
The dominant aromatic group represents the most perceptible notes and the secondary group, the more subtle notes present in the cup.
Traditional Coffees (classic and superior) are the most common in the various distribution channels.
Specialty Coffees (rated 80-100) are among the best coffees in the world and represent less than 10% of world production. These are flawless coffees that offer unique tasting notes from one terroir (or even plot) to another.
Attributed by “Q Graders”, a coffee's /100 score is determined by the quality of the beans and the result in the cup. It is advisable to progressively move towards coffees with higher scores.
