The leaves of tencha, a Japanese tea plant, are harvested and then ground finely like flour. This process produces a perfect matcha tea with a vibrant colour. This tea contains three times more catechin than other green teas (catechin is an antioxidant molecule).
This matcha tea has been consumed traditionally in Japan for thousands of years.
Equip yourself with a bowl, a coffee spoon and a Japanese bamboo whisk (chasen). Pour hot water over the equivalent of a tea spoon (7g) of matcha. Whisk with your whisk in a horizontal motion until you obtain a delicate foam. If you don't have a bamboo whisk, an electric milk frother will do the trick! To obtain a matcha latte, add a dash of milk foam.
