Why use a Delonghi filter cartridge?
If you use tap water to fill the reservoir of your coffee machine, you need a filter cartridge. For several reasons : the filter cartridge protects your machine from limestone and prevent its formation. And above all, it makes the neutral taste to your water for do not alter with the aromas of your coffee. By improving the quality of the water, you will have optimal results for the taste of your coffee.
Indeed, your caffeinated drink is made up of more than 98% water, if you perform your extraction with water that tastes like chlorine, you will lose all the essences of your coffee. That would be a shame…
Furthermore, the cartridge has a filtering power which removes a large part of the limestone. If you do not use a cartridge, its accumulation will eventually damage your machine. Once the water pipe is clogged, your machine will start to leak and it will be irreversible. All you have to do is change the machine.

Each of the cartridges offered here is compatible with all Delonghi machines. Their use is the same and the way to install them too. A small nuance to note, some cartridges are not compatible with the Delonghi Esam range. The information is clearly indicated on the product sheets.
Compatible Filter Cartridges
Finally, in order to guarantee everyone affordable prices and an alternative choice to classic Delonghi cartridges, we also offer filters compatible with your Delonghi machine.
From the first use of your machine, you can install the cartridge. It can be provided by the manufacturer, but in case it is advisable to buy one when making your purchase. Its installation is simple.
- 1. Before turning on your machine, fill the water tank and immerse the cartridge cap downwards without installing it in order to let the air it contains escape.
- 2. Once the last small bubble has come out, you can turn it over and install it on the location at the bottom of the water tray.
As simple as that, your cartridge is ready to filter your water.
If during the first rinse, the water does not flow out and the machine struggles to raise the water, this means that the cartridge is not correctly installed or that there is still air inside. It is advisable to check if it is well engaged or moistened.
the Delonghi softener filter is a consumable, it must be replaced regularly. We advise you to change it about every two and a half months.
Why ? The cartridge is in contact with water, which promotes the proliferation of bacteria and mold.
Most automatic machines warn with a signal when the cartridge needs to be changed. Otherwise, there is a blue wheel on the top which allows you to indicate the month of installation (from 1 to 12). It will be easy to check the remaining time each time you refill the water tray. And so, you will be sure to consume better quality coffee!
