Coming from a family of peddlers from the Alsace region of France, Marc Bloch founded La Semeuse in 1900. He specialised in the import and distribution of groundnut oil. In 1916, he died in battle for France on the Balkan front. His young widow, Hortense took over the business. She not only gave it the push needed to grow but diversified its activities by developing coffee roasting. In 1938, the two Bloch sons, Henri and Jean, joined the family business. After the war, they stopped importing oil and devoted all their energy and dynamism to importing, roasting and distributing coffee.
La Semeuse offers "A journey in a cup." Find their coffee beans, ground coffee, ESE pods and organic coffees on MaxiCoffee.
