More about this coffee

Gufunga Coko was born in the Northern Province of Rwanda, in the district of Gakenke and the terroir of Coko. The Northern region, like the rest of the country, is developing. The first washing station was built in 2004, but there are now several hundred stations operating in the country.

Like Geisha when you taste it for the first time, Robusta Gufunga Coko is a unique experience when you first taste it! With very few defects and a European preparation, this coffee has been put in a jute bag with a professional bean to keep it as fresh as possible.

The Northern Province of Rwanda is a major coffee producing region where many washing stations have been established. The area is made up of several thousand producers who each own a plot of land. With its lakes and mountains, the Northern Province is ideal for the development of excellent coffees. The altitude is over 1600 metres, which is ideal for the development of coffee trees.

The area known as Coko has a savannah climate, with a dry winter. Rainfall is much higher in summer than in winter. The average annual temperature is 21.3°C and the rainfall is 828 ml. Some forests have been preserved and many hikes are offered near the Visoke volcano, from where it is possible to see Gorillas! Indeed, over the last 10 years the gorilla population has increased in Rwanda.
