Presentation of the Plantation :

Located south of the capital Addis Ababa in the "Gedeo zone", the Yrgacheffe area is a privileged and exclusive place for coffee growing. The coffee trees are grown under natural shade on brownish red clay soils. The vast majority of producers practice organic farming.

The plantations are located at an altitude of between 1700m and 2500m and benefit from exceptional climatic conditions that create unequalled aromatic profiles in the cup. First of all, the coffee trees benefit from a significant annual rainfall of between 800 and 1000 mm between March and October.

Secondly, thanks to its geographical location, equidistant from the Equator and the Tropic of Capricorn, the average temperature is 20°C. On their small plantations, the coffee growers take care of the quality of their coffee plants and sell their beans to the local cooperative. After a meticulous manual sorting, this micro-lot has been selected by a panel of local and international experts for its outstanding organoleptic qualities.

In total, the harvest from this production basin amounts to 9110 tons (3% of the volume of coffee produced by Ethiopia). Most of the coffee is washed. The grading and manual sorting ensure good quality green beans.
