Why is this Coffee a Grand Cru?

  • A delicate cup with notes of almond, honey and lemon biscuits which gives the extraction a light body
  • A rich history: the Blue Mountain coffee beans are still transported in barrels - dating from the Carrabean rhum trade - which makes it a premium coffee
  • One of the smallest coffee appellation: the Blue Mountain is exclusively cultivated on the side of the Blue mountain, hence its name

The Story of Cafés Lugat:

Lionel Lugat is the legendary roaster at MaxiCoffee. Over the years, he has surrounded himself with an expert team of roasters.

This coffee specialist, judge in the French Coffee Championships and expert columnist for our coffee company tells the story of Cafés Lugat and his passion for coffee roasting below.

About this coffee:

The Saint-Cloud plantation is located in St. Andrew, at 1,200-metre altitudes. Therefore, the coffea plants benefit from the area's volcanic, nutrient-rich soil.

The combination of the high altitude and specific climatic conditions create a coffee with a high-quality aromatic profile.

What is a Blue Mountain coffee?

Blue Mountain is the name of a mountain range that covers the eastern third of the island of Jamaica. Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee, grown on the slopes of the same name, is one of the best varieties in the world.

Since 1973, the "Blue Mountain" appellation encompasses all of the best Jamaican coffees.. This coffee, packaged in a little barrel, has become the most famous and most expensive in the world.

Blue Mountain coffee is only grown in the parishes of Portland, St. Andrew (Flamstead Estate) and St. Thomas, all of which are located on the slopes of Blue Mountain. All the coffee farmers in this area grow their coffee in the shade at an average altitude of 2,000 metres.
