  More About the Huehuetenango Region:

El Maya is from the Huehuetenango region , located in the North West of Guatemala is the home of the Cuchumanates montains chain with its highest peak located at 3828 meters above sea level.

This coffee is cultivated at a high altitude on a limestone soil, characteristic of the Huehuetenango region , and therefore, it carries a unique intricacy and acidity guaranteeing excellent bean quality. The very specific nature of this limestone terroir is reflected in the coffee's spicy and chocolate notes.

El Maya is one of our three coffees from the Huehuetenango region. El Maya is a Light Roast which makes it best suited for a Slow Coffee brewing process: French Press, Chemex or Filter! On the other hand, La Libertad and Huehuetenango from Cafés Lugat are Medium Roasts perfect for espresso!
