The Story of Cafés Lugat :

Lionel Lugat is the legendary coffee roaster at MaxiCoffee . Over the years, he has surrounded himself with an expert team of coffee roasters.

This coffee specialist is also a judge in the French Coffee Championships and expert columnist for our coffee company! Lionel tells the story of Cafés Lugat and his passion for coffee roasting below.

  More About this Microlot:

This coffee is produced in the heart of the Dipilto mountains, near the border with Honduras. It is cultivated on sandy soil at an altitude of between 1200 and 1700 metres. Most coffee bushes are grown under shade (70% with various species), and the soil and plants are fertilised using environmentally-friendly techniques.

This is a 100% Caturra microlot. It is a very bright coffee with floral notes and a lively, juicy acidity against notes of wine, cherries, mandarin, grapes and citrus fruits. It has a smooth body and a pleasant length in the cup.

Lionel and Marco from Cafés Lugat went to meet the Valladarez family in Nicaragua (from left to right: Marco, Lionel, Luis Emilio, Olman). On the menu: sampling coffee, visiting the farm and the processing plant!

The Story of the Valladarez Family:

Luis Valladarez, founder of the farm, started his business by buying a small farm called Buenos Aires before buying two other farms La Laguna and El Suyatal.

Initially, all his crops were sold as cherries until the construction, a few years ago, of his own processing plant: Cafetalera Buenos Aires. The goal was to best control the production and export of his coffees.

In 2004, Luis Emilio's second son, Olman, joined his father and brother to manage and run the family farms.

In 2005 he began to introduce his micro lot coffees to the Nicaragua Cup of Excellence competition, obtaining very good results.
