Cafés Lugat - Ceiba Honey - Honduras Organic Coffee Beans - 250g

Ceiba honey is mild, with a marked body due to the fact that it has been processed using the Honey method. When you taste it, you will appreciate the fruity aspect of this coffee thanks to the presence of plums. Then you will experience the buttery toast in your mouth, with notes of gingerbread and the freshness of lime, for a round, spicy and complex coffee.

The farm:

The COSMA cooperative is located in Marcala in the department of La Paz and groups together 19 coffee-producing municipalities. It offers a wide variety of the best coffees in Honduras, all of which are rated at over 80 points. The cherries are grown at a minimum altitude of 1,100 metres, which allows the coffee to have good acidity and body. One of the main objectives of this cooperative is to change its way of working in order to produce exclusively organically grown coffees like Ceiba. Indeed, its production approach is based on sustainability. The harvested cherries are then taken to the processing plant in Marcala to be wet or naturally washed.

The famer:

Initially, Marcala producers were grouped in a cooperative that was forced to close. Of the producers who were left without a processing plant, about 60 came together and created the COSMA cooperative to address the problem. Currently, the cooperative consists of 2,354 producers, who work for the values of COSMA. The cooperative teaches most of the producers organic farming and trains them in coffee tasting, so that they can educate their palates and understand as much as possible about the quality of the product they produce. In addition to coffee, COSMA also runs a market once a week in the town of Marcala, which is made up exclusively of organic products. Finally, COSMA has a commitment to local schools: the cooperative offers English and French classes for the children of the community.
